about

After the heavy "The Avalanche" follows "Porcelain", probably the most relaxed and lightest track of the record. It's inspired by some Jamiroquai and Mac DeMarco stuff I've heard lately. I had the riff in my head for months before I found the right lyrics and arrangement for it. The content is about fake self-representation and artificial facade, but also about keeping others at a distance without really wanting to.

lyrics

Oh my porcelain girl
You think you’re untouchable
You already see how this is going to turn out
But I think you don’t know what you’re talking about
At least you’re feeling fine
While we keep on wasting time

We keep talking
Til the Morning
We keep ignoring
All the warnings
There are some bad guys around
Would you count me in?
Would you count me out?

What a perfect arrangement
Like a renaissance painting
And all the floral decoration
To cover all your imperfections

Oh my porcelain girl
You think you’re untouchable
You already see how this is going to turn out
But I think you don’t know what you’re talking about
At least you’re feeling fine
While we keep on wasting time

You wanna be seen
From a safety distance
Like a piece of art
In a museum - you say
The thieves are coming
and they’re sneaking in
And they’re sneaking out
Are you going to steal me now? (2x)

Oh my porcelain girl
You think you’re untouchable
You already see how this is going to turn out
But I think you don’t know what you’re talking about
At least you’re feeling fine
While we keep on wasting time
