Well the times they're not so easy Have they ever been my dear? We ain't got anything to believe in But in our paper planes in the air And you know I'm overrated And I know you're always scared but we gotta keep on keeping on for the ones that we hold dear Oh my love we will never be the same Everything is changing but our memories remain Oh my love are you still waiting on the bench? Every night I walk this hill with my bare feet in the sand All the promises I made and all the promises I broke will you ever trust me again now that you know? and all these disappointments every little rabbit much keep your eyes on the horizon or you'll lose yourself in the mud Oh my love we will never be the same Everything is changing but our memories remain Oh my love are you still waiting on the bench? Every night I walk this hill with my bare feet in the sand

Cold Town 03:37
Take a look around Why don't we sound it out? Every new year makes it even more abvious Shine a light on the way down in our cold town Will you die just to know What this life was for? Coming and going alone out in the night we're all the same in front of the lord Sorry but I will have to let you all down I'm not going to stay here in this town Will you die just to know What this life was for? Coming and going alone out in the night we're all the same in front of the lord Sorry but I will have to let you all down I'm not going to stay here in this town

The Last Day 03:58
The walls are closing in And the streets just run in circles We’re lying on our backs In the pavement we were born The first time I got drunk Was the last day of dignity I couldn’t stand you You hadn’t had a trace of grace So why should we behave? Why should we be nice? Why should we be happy? We gave in to this life... And the love that we found Was out of fear of disappointments And all your mother said Was “make the most of now!” Whenever we look in the mirror We try to avoid looking into our eyes During nights of being unfaithful And everybody knows So why should we behave? Why should we be nice? Why should we be happy? We gave in to this life...

We didn't realize that we've been torn in two Now look at us, shattered on the floor But it's about to end, don't let it ever get you down again Let the avalanche take you down to the valley Hold my hand. Does it make you feel good again? Let the avalanche roll over our bodies until there's nothing left Let's stop to pretend that the reason why we feel bad is something but ourselves now look at us, shouting at the top of our lungs When it's about to end, don't let it ever get you down again Let the avalanche take you down to the valley Hold my hand. Does it make you feel good again? Let the avalanche roll over our bodies until there's nothing left When did all the silence turn into violence? When did all the patience turn into hate?

Porcelain 03:48
Oh my porcelain girl You think you’re untouchable You already see how this is going to turn out But I think you don’t know what you’re talking about At least you’re feeling fine While we keep on wasting time We keep talking Til the Morning We keep ignoring All the warnings There are some bad guys around Would you count me in? Would you count me out? What a perfect arrangement Like a renaissance painting And all the floral decoration To cover all your imperfections Oh my porcelain girl You think you’re untouchable You already see how this is going to turn out But I think you don’t know what you’re talking about At least you’re feeling fine While we keep on wasting time You wanna be seen From a safety distance Like a piece of art In a museum - you say The thieves are coming and they’re sneaking in And they’re sneaking out Are you going to steal me now? (2x) Oh my porcelain girl You think you’re untouchable You already see how this is going to turn out But I think you don’t know what you’re talking about At least you’re feeling fine While we keep on wasting time

Complicated 03:21
You hit me up the other day Saying there's something that you wanna say And I said "ok." You don't want anyone to know but you think that there is more And I was like "oh." Don't you ask me if I can keep a secret I don't want anyone to keep me up for so long Why does it have to be so complicated? I only wanna hang out with my friends Why don't you come? You say I should've come to your party But I don't need no heartache Why would you ever wanna change that? Seems like there's a contract that when you grow up, you gotta feel sad I didn't sign for that Don't you ask me if I can keep a secret I don't want anyone to keep me up for so long Why does it have to be so complicated? I only wanna hang out with my friends Why don't you come?

I don't want to be your next three a' half minute song / I want to be more / something that you really care for / I don't want to be the next kid you throw out of the room / I want to be more - someone that you really care for I don't know who I am but I know that I'm able to make you lose it all I can't be tamed and I can't slow down if you don't see me - if you don't see me now I don't want to get lost in detention class / I want to be more - someone you don't ignore / I don't want to hear you say "there ain't no use" / I want to be more - someone that you hope for... I don't know who I am but I know that I'm able to make you lose it all I can't be tamed and I can't slow down if you don't see me - if you don't see me now

My ever present past please tell me what to do please tell my why can't I learn from my undoings? I want to be so much better than I am but it seems I forgot the lesson I was learning And if I ever fall, will you be there to tell me that you told me after all? And point the finger at me because I should've known My ever present past I want to be with you I wish that I had known what I am knowing If I could turn back time would I change my mind? or only go my foolish ways again And then I keep on banging my head against the wall because I'm not learning after all you point the finger at me because I should've known

about

Ubiquitous set pieces of our past shape our daily life in a very subtle or even conscious way. Our actions are determined by our experiences, which in turn has an impact on our future. In the eight songs of his EP "Ever Present Past", Carnival Kid presents these very set pieces - subtle memories, formative experiences and above all the question of what you would change if you could. The songs move between laid-back, relaxed indie folk and energetic fist-in-the-air hymns, accompanied by synthesizer carpets and crunching indie guitars. Above it all there are Carnival Kid's warm and charismatic vocals, sometimes rough and fragile, sometimes powerful and unleashed. Ever Present Past is already the second EP by the singer/songwriter from Erfurt/ Germany and, like its predecessor, was created as a DIY project in his home studio.
